The Calgary Stampeders have signed American receiver Jose Barbon to their practice roster.

The five-foot-eleven, 182-pound target caught 138 passes for 1,608 yards and four touchdowns at Temple University, finishing his collegiate career as the fourth-leading receiver in Owls history. He made 72 receptions for 918 yards and two touchdowns as a senior.

The native of Havana, Cuba went unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft but signing with the Dallas Cowboys thereafter. He was waived at the conclusion of training camp.

Calgary is currently on a bye but will return to the field on Friday, Oct. 13 when they host the Saskatchewan Roughriders. A win would keep the team’s faint playoff hopes alive as they currently trail the Riders by four points in the West Division standings.
