The Saskatchewan Roughriders are getting a pair of their most impactful player back in the lineup when they face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Saturday.
Starting running back Jamal Morrow (knee) and stalwart defensive lineman Anthony Lanier II (hip) have both returned after two-week absences.
Morrow has carried 157 times for 680 yards and two touchdowns this season while adding 28 receptions for 284 yards and another score. Lanier has been one of the league’s most consistent pressure generators, notching 16 defensive tackles and five sacks in 11 games.
The move sends running back Frankie Hickson to the practice roster, while defensive tackle Demarcus Christmas (knee) heads to the one-game injured list. Lanier will start inside, with Christian Albright and Pete Robertson maintaining their positions on the edge.
Also returning to the lineup is hard-hitting halfback Deontai Williams, who has made an immediate impact as a rookie by notching 28 defensive tackles, six special teams tackles, and an interception. Cornerback Jeremy Clark (knee) will sit out this week, as rookie William Poole III makes his debut.
Also dressing for his first CFL game is defensive tackle Caleb Sanders. Canadian receiver Juwan Brescacin will dress, while linebacker Brian Harelimans, defensive back Rodney Clemons Jr., and defensive tackle Cody Roscoe are bumped to the practice roster.
The Riders (6-9) will host the Ticats (7-8) on Saturday, October 7 at 7:00 p.m. EDT. This is the first and only meeting between the teams this season.
