Laval quarterback Arnaud Desjardins was named the offensive player of the week after he completed 21-of-26 pass attempts for 263 yards and three touchdowns in a 46-14 win over the McGill Redbirds despite star receiver Kevin Mital being out of the lineup. The Montreal native also ran for a game-high 55 yards and one touchdown along the ground.
The other nominees for the award were St. FX quarterback Silas Fagnan (AUS), Queen’s running back Jared Chisari (OUA), and Manitoba quarterback Jackson Tachinski (CW).
Western defensive back Jackson Findlay was named the defensive player of the week after he recorded 5.5 tackles, one sack, and two interceptions in his team’s 21-10 win over the Windsor Lancers. The North Vancouver native helped seal the win with a pick at the goal line with 15 seconds left in the game. The Mustangs surrendered only three offensive points as they handed the previously undefeated Lancers their first loss of the season.
The other nominees for the award were Acadia defensive back Riley Comeau (AUS), Montreal linebacker Mohamed Elshal (RSEQ), and Alberta defensive back Mack Bannatyne (CW).
Saskatchewan kicker David Solie was named the special teams player of the week after he made four-of-five field goal attempts including a career-long 50-yarder to help his team defeat the UBC Thunderbirds by a score of 34-31. The Saskatoon native made a game-winning 42-yard field goal with five minutes remaining to help hand UBC its first loss of the season and bump them down the national rankings.
The other nominees for the award were St. FX kicker Ben Hadley (AUS), Laval return specialist Guillaume Cauchon (RSEQ), and Ottawa kicker Campbell Fair (OUA).
