The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have released Canadian receiver Richie Sindani.
The 28-year-old had dressed for 12 games with the team this season after serving a two-game suspension for testing positive for a banned substance while a member of the Calgary Stampeders. He caught 12 passes for 90 yards, despite making six starts.
The six-foot-two, 220-pound native of Regina was originally selected by Calgary in the eighth round of the 2017 CFL Draft after playing at the University of Regina and University of Calgary during his U Sports career. He also spent time with the Calgary Colts of the Canadian Junior Football League.
Sindani played 60 games over four seasons with the Stampeders from 2018 to 2022 and made 92 receptions for 986 yards and three touchdowns. He spent time in the United States Football League with the New Orleans Breakers this offseason but was released by the team.
The Ticats (6-8) will host the Stampeders (4-10) on Saturday, September 30 at 7:00 p.m. EDT. It is the first and only meeting between the two teams this season.
