Two new teams have cracked the top five in the U Sports football rankings after maintaining their perfect records this past week.

The Windsor Lancers defeated the Queen’s Golden Gaels by a score of 29-5, knocking them out of the top ten. Windsor’s defence was dominant as linebacker Devin Veresuk and defensive lineman Muftah Ageli returned interceptions for touchdowns. The team is 5-0 for the first time since 1975, though they’ll face their toughest test of the season this weekend when they host the No. 1-ranked Western Mustangs.

The UBC Thunderbirds improved to 4-0 this past weekend with a 54-37 win over the Alberta Golden Bears. Garrett Rooker threw for 363 yards and three touchdowns for the Thunderbirds, while Isaiah Knight ran for 185 yards and a touchdown. UBC is also facing a nationally-ranked opponent this week as they visit the Saskatchewan Huskies, who are coming off a 28-12 win over the Calgary Dinos.

The top three teams remained unchanged in this week’s rankings as the Mustangs, Montreal Carabins, and Laval Rouge et Or are still atop the top ten.

The St. FX X-Men fell from No. 4 to No. 6 despite dominating the Saint Mary’s Huskies, while the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks fell from No. 6 to No. 7 after beating the McMaster Marauders. The Saskatchewan Huskies fell from No. 5 to No. 8, the Alberta Golden Bears held firm at No. 9, and the Bishop’s Gaiters made their season debut in the top ten amid a three-game winning streak.
