Calgary Stampeders sign five to practice roster, including NFL veteran Adarius Taylor

The Calgary Stampeders have signed five players to their expanded practice roster, including defensive linemen Will Choloh and Toby Ndukwe, linebacker Adarius Taylor, and defensive backs Clifford Chattman and Tyler Richardson.

Choloh was a four-time All-Sun Belt Conference selection at Troy University, which is located in Troy, Ala. The six-foot, 282-pound defender made 200 tackles, 34 tackles for loss, 20.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and three blocked kicks over 62 career games for the Trojans. The 23-year-old native of Monrovia, Liberia is cousins with New Orleans Saints’ running back and five-time Pro Bowl selection Alvin Kamara.

Ndukwe was recently in training camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers and made five tackles, four tackles for loss, and one sack over three preseason games.

The six-foot-one, 236-pound edge rusher was named first-team All-Western Athletic Conference as a senior at Sam Houston State University last year as he made 34 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, and one interception. He originally started his collegiate career at Southern Methodist University where he recorded 26 tackles, six tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery over 43 games.

Taylor went unselected in the 2014 NFL Draft but ended up playing 88 career games as a member of the Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Cleveland Browns, recording 140 tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception, and six pass knockdowns.

The 33-year-old finished his collegiate career at Florida Atlantic, where he made 149 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two interceptions, one forced fumble over 23 games for the Owls. The five-foot-eleven, 233-pound defender started his collegiate career at Eastern Arizona Community College where he was named first-team All-Conference.

Chattman was recently in training camp with the Atlanta Falcons and made six tackles, two tackles for loss, and one sack over three preseason games. The six-foot-five, 198-pound defensive back finished his collegiate career at the University of Texas at San Antonio and made 90 tackles, two tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, five interceptions, one forced fumble, and 15 pass knockdowns over 18 games.

The native of New Orleans started his collegiate career at Texas A&M where he made 35 tackles, two tackles for loss, one interception, one fumble recovery, and five pass knockdowns over 17 games with the Aggies.

Richardson attended rookie mini-camp with the Indianapolis Colts this year after going unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft. The five-foot-ten, 188-pound cover man played 37 collegiate games at Tiffin University where he was named All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference three times, recording 113 tackles, three interceptions, and 0.5 sacks.

Calgary also released Global defensive lineman Aaron Donkor, who was the team’s third-round pick in the 2021 CFL Global Draft.

The Stampeders (4-10) will visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (6-8) on Saturday, Sept. 30 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
