The Calgary Stampeders will be without reliable receiver Markeith Ambles when they face the Montreal Alouettes on Saturday.
Ambles (knee) has been highly productive since joining the team mid-season, catching 15 passes for 193 yards in just four games. He has been placed on the one-game injured list and will be replaced by Tre Odoms-Dukes, who caught 44 passes for 493 and two touchdowns in nine games earlier this year.
Canadian receiver Rysen John will also dress this week, replacing Tyson Middlemost (hamstring) who has been placed on the one-game injured list.
Rejoining the Stampeders’ lineup is backup running back Dedrick Mills, who has rushed for 632 yards and four touchdowns on 125 carries this year. Fellow back LeVante Bellamy has been placed on the practice roster.
Defensively, Calgary will be without a pair of contributors in the secondary in cornerback Tre Roberson (chest) and coverage linebacker Darius Williams (shoulder), both of whom have been placed on the one-game injured list. A former CFL all-star, Roberson has collected 45 defensive tackles and two interceptions in 12 starts this year.
Julian Charles, who made two starts earlier in the season before sustaining a serious knee injury, is healthy and will replace Roberson at corner. Perry Young has been activated to take over Williams’ rotational role.
The Stampeders (4-9) will host the Alouettes (6-7) on Saturday, September 23 at 4:00 p.m. EDT. The two teams met in Week 8, with Montreal securing a 25-18 victory.
