The Edmonton Elks have brought defensive back Donovan Olumba out of retirement and onto their practice roster.

According to reports, the six-foot-two, 205-pound defender was placed on the retired list on May 10 after suffering a torn pec in the offseason. He is now healthy and reported to the team 10 days ago.

Olumba played two games for the Elks in 2022, starting both at field-side halfback. He recorded one interception in the club’s regular-season finale against the B.C. Lions.

The Portland State product spent three seasons with the Dallas Cowboys after going unselected in the 2018 NFL Draft. He also had stints with the Cleveland Browns, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The Elks (3-10) return to action on Friday, September 15 at 9:30 p.m. EDT when they visit the Saskatchewan Roughriders (6-6).
