The CFL has fined three players following Week 12 action.
Ottawa Redblacks’ offensive lineman Dino Boyd was fined for unnecessary contact with Edmonton Elks’ defensive back Marloshawn Franklin Jr., while his teammate Michael Wakefield was fined for a high hit on Edmonton quarterback Tre Ford.
The Redblacks suffered a fifth straight loss this past week, dropping a 30-20 contest in Edmonton. Ottawa was outgained by almost 200 net yards in the defeat as Ford set new single-game career highs in passing and rushing yards.
Toronto Argonauts’ defensive lineman Benoît Marion was also fined for a blindside block on Calgary Stampeders’ linebacker Charlie Moore in his team’s 39-31 victory over Cowtown.
As per league policy, the amounts of the fines were not disclosed. The maximum possible fine under the league’s collective bargaining agreement is equal to one-half of a player’s game cheque.
The Redblacks (3-8) are currently on a bye week.
