The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will have franchise quarterback Zach Collaros back in the starting lineup when they host the Montreal Alouettes on Thursday night.
The 34-year-old didn’t play in last week’s game due to a neck injury, marking the first time he missed a game due to injury since joining the Blue Bombers in October 2019. Dru Brown made his first start of the season at quarterback, throwing for 171 yards in a 19-18 win over the Calgary Stampeders.
Collaros has completed 69.2 percent of his passes for 2,298 yards, 16 touchdowns, and six interceptions this season, leading the league in passing touchdowns. He is the CFL’s two-time reigning Most Outstanding Player.
Canadian linebacker Shayne Gauthier will also return to the lineup on Thursday, replacing fullback Konner Burtenshaw, who has been moved to the practice roster. Veteran safety Brandon Alexander has been listed as a starter despite missing practice this past week due to a non-injury-related reason.
Those who remain on Winnipeg’s six-game injured list include return specialist Janarion Grant, defensive back Desmond Lawrence, defensive lineman Celestin Haba, and special teams ace Mike Miller.
The Blue Bombers (8-2) are scheduled to host the Montreal Alouettes (6-3) on Thursday, Aug. 24 with kickoff slated for 8:30 p.m. EDT. The two teams met at Percival Molson Stadium in Montreal in Week 4 with the Blue Bombers winning by a score of 17-3.
