The Calgary Stampeders have signed veteran American receiver Markeith Ambles to their practice roster.
The 31-year-old native of McDonough, Ga. was released by the Toronto Argonauts on Wednesday, missing out on a return to Calgary in a rival uniform. He spent the first three seasons of his CFL career with the Stampeders, recording 117 catches for 1,399 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Stampeders upset the Argonauts 20-7 on Friday, breaking their undefeated streak.
Ambles set all-new career highs in 2022 with Toronto, posting 72 receptions for 737 yards and five touchdowns. The six-foot-two, 197-pound target re-signed with the Argos this offseason but had yet to play a game this year due to injury, rendering him expendable.
The Houston product has won two Grey Cups, first with Calgary in 2018 before winning a second with Toronto in 2022.
The Stampeder (3-5) will visit the B.C. Lions (6-2) on Saturday, August 12.
