Veteran quarterback Dane Evans will make his second consecutive start for the B.C. Lions when the club visits the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday.

Vernon Adams Jr. missed this past week’s game due to a knee injury he suffered against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The injury will reportedly not hold him out long-term, though this will mark the second straight game for which he’s been unable to start.

Evans completed 25-of-32 pass attempts for 330 yards and two touchdowns in the team’s 27-0 victory over the Edmonton Elks this past week. It was his first regular season start since being acquired by the Lions via trade this past off-season.

The 29-year-old played 63 games over five seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, throwing for 8,807 yards, 45 touchdowns, and 34 interceptions. He also carried the ball 125 times for 511 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The Lions (6-1) will visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (5-2) on Thursday, Aug. 4 with kickoff slated for 8:30 p.m. EDT. The two teams met in Week 3 with B.C. coming away with a dominant 30-6 victory.
