The B.C. Lions will start veteran quarterback Dane Evans when they take on the Edmonton Elks in Week 8.
Vernon Adams Jr. was listed as a limited participant in practice on Tuesday due to a knee injury he suffered this past week. The injury will reportedly not hold him out long-term, though Dominique Davis will serve as the backup to Evans against Edmonton on Saturday.
Evans completed 16-of-25 pass attempts for 219 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in a relief appearance during the club’s 19-9 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. It was his first regular season action since being acquired by the Lions via trade this past off-season.
The 29-year-old played 63 games over five seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, throwing for 8,807 yards, 45 touchdowns, and 34 interceptions. He also carried the ball 125 times for 511 yards and 10 touchdowns.
The Lions will visit the Elks on Saturday, July 29 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
