Three players have been fined following last week’s game between the Edmonton Elks and Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Edmonton defensive lineman Kony Ealy was fined for striking Saskatchewan defensive lineman Micah Johnson, while Edmonton defensive back Dwayne Thompson II was fined for a high hit on Saskatchewan receiver Tevin Jones.

Saskatchewan defensive back Deontai Williams was also fined for a high hit on Edmonton quarterback Taylor Cornelius.

As per league policy, the amounts of the fines were not disclosed. The maximum possible fine under the league’s collective bargaining agreement is equal to one-half of a player’s game cheque.

Last week’s content ended in a 12-11 victory for the Riders, which improved the team’s record to 3-1 on the season. Saskatchewan scored a touchdown with just over one minute remaining and succeeded on the two-point conversion to tie the game. CJ Sims mishandled the ensuing kickoff, allowing it to go over his head and into the end zone for a game-winning rouge from Brett Lauther.

Edmonton (0-5) is scheduled to host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1-3) on Thursday, July 13 with kickoff slated for 9:00 p.m. EDT. This will mark the first of two meetings between the teams this season.
