The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will have versatile defensive back and return specialist Lawrence Woods III back in the lineup when they visit the Edmonton Elks on Thursday.

The 25-year-old was a healthy scratch last week after opening the season as the club’s starting field-side cornerback. He will be in the starting lineup again on Thursday, though newcomer Tyreik McAllister will handle return duties.

American offensive lineman Tyrone Riley will return to his starting spot at left tackle, while Canadian fullback Bailey Feltmate and Canadian defensive tackle Mohamed Diallo will also be back in the lineup. Brandon Kemp, who started the last two games at left tackle, will start at right tackle with veteran Chris Van Zeyl as his backup.

Canadian defensive end Mason Bennett will not dress due to a hamstring injury. Those who remain on Hamilton’s six-game injured list include quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell, offensive linemen Alex Fontana and Joel Figueroa, defensive tackle Dylan Wynn, and defensive back Tunde Adeleke.

Hamilton got its first win of the season last week in a 21-13 victory over the Ottawa Redblacks. The victory moved them into a tie for third place in the East Division and two points behind the Montreal Alouettes for second.

Edmonton is amid a 19-game home losing streak that dates back to the 2019 season. The club already surpassed the previous CFL record for consecutive home losses last season and is looking to avoid tying the all-time professional sports record of 20 set by the St. Louis Browns of Major League Baseball in 1953.

The Ticats (1-3) are scheduled to visit the Edmonton Elks (0-5) on Thursday, July 13 with kickoff slated for 9:00 p.m. EDT. This will mark the first of two meetings between the teams this season.
