Ticats release preseason standout Lio’undre Gallimore, bring back Canadian FB Myles Manalo

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have released preseason standout Lio’undre Gallimore and brought back Canadian fullback Myles Manalo.

Gallimore dazzled in two preseason appearances, catching six passes for 79 yards while returning a punt 84 yards for a touchdown. He made the Ticats’ practice roster and was active for their Week 2 loss to the Toronto Argonauts, serving as the primary return specialist and fielding six kickoffs for 151 yards and six punts for 29 yards.

The five-foot-10, 171-pound speedster played four collegiate seasons at Valdosta State, catching 144 passes for 2,799 yards and 31 touchdowns.

Manalo was a sixth-round pick in the 2021 CFL Draft and has played 12 games with the team the past two years, recording two special teams tackles. He converted from linebacker to fullback mid-way through the 2022 season and was originally released on June 15.

The six-foot-two, 230-pounder played 21 games over two seasons at Western University at linebacker and made 70 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, one fumble recovery, one interception, and two pass breakups. He won a Vanier Cup as a member of the Mustangs in 2017.

The Tiger-Cats (0-3) host the Ottawa Redblacks (1-2) on Saturday, July 8 at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
