The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed Canadian offensive lineman Jakub Szott.

The six-foot-four, 299-pound blocker was recently released by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers after dressing in a depth role for the club’s first three games of the 2023 season.

The 24-year-old was a fourth-round pick of the Ottawa Redblacks in the 2020 CFL Draft. He started 12 games as a rookie at left guard in 2021 before spending most of the 2022 season on the team’s practice roster before being released and joining the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Montreal Alouettes.

The McMaster University product was named a second-team OUA all-star in 2019, which was his final season with the Marauders.

The Riders added starting centre Peter Godber to the one-game injured list due to a hand injury on Wednesday. Zack Fry, the team’s second-round pick in the 2022 CFL Draft out of Western University, will dress for his first game of the season in a depth role.

The Riders (2-1) will host the Edmonton Elks (0-4) on Thursday, July 6 with kickoff slated for 9:00 p.m. EDT.
