Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign Kerfalla Exumé following release from Montreal Alouettes

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed Canadian defensive back Kerfalla Exumé.

The six-foot, 197-pound defender was recently released by his hometown Montreal Alouettes. He made 21 special teams tackles as a member of the team over the 2021 and 2022 regular seasons.

The 29-year-old was selected by the Blue Bombers in the eighth round of the 2019 CFL Draft. He collected a league-leading 25 special teams tackles as a rookie, helping the team win the Grey Cup.

Exumé played collegiately at the Université de Montréal where Alouettes’ general manager Danny Maciocia served as his head coach.

Winnipeg has also added Canadian linebacker Jared Beeksma to the practice roster and released Canadian offensive lineman Jakub Szott, who dressed for the first three games of the season in a depth role.

Beeksma was selected by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the fifth round of the 2022 CFL Draft out of the University of Guelph. He made the practice roster after training camp and played in one game prior to being released. The 25-year-old has since been a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and had a second stint with the Ticats.

The six-foot-two, 220-pound defender played four seasons for the Gryphons, recording 77 solo tackles, three sacks, one fumble recovery, three interceptions, and six pass breakups in 39 games.

The Blue Bombers (3-1) will host the Calgary Stampeders (1-2) on Friday, July 7 with kickoff slated for 8:30 p.m. EDT.
