The Saskatchewan Roughriders will be without a number of key players when they take on the Edmonton Elks on Thursday, including receiver Jake Wieneke and offensive lineman Peter Godber.

Wieneke did not practice this week due to a knee injury. The 28-year-old has caught 12 passes for 111 yards this season after joining the Riders as a high-priced free agent following three seasons with the Montreal Alouettes.

Godber is out with a hand injury after starting the first three games of the season at centre. The Toronto native was a first-round pick of the B.C. Lions in 2018 who signed a free agent contract with Saskatchewan this past off-season.

Saskatchewan has also ruled out American offensive lineman Jerald Hawkins (knee), Canadian linebacker Matt Dean (foot), and American defensive back Rodney Clemons (ankle).

Offensive lineman Colin Kelly (illness), defensive linemen Pete Robertson (not-injury-related) and Anthony Lanier II (foot), defensive backs Rolan Milligan (back) and Jayden Dalke (back), and long snapper Jorgen Hus (illness) were full participants on Tuesday after missing practice earlier in the week.

The Riders (2-1) will host the Edmonton Elks (0-4) on Thursday, July 6 with kickoff slated for 9:00 p.m. EDT. The clubs met at Commonwealth Stadium during the opening week of the season with Saskatchewan coming out ahead by a score of 17-13.
