The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will have defensive lineman Jackson Jeffcoat back in the lineup when the club takes on the Montreal Alouettes on Saturday.

The 32-year-old suffered a calf injury in Winnipeg’s season-opening victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and missed the following two games. The Texas product was replaced in the starting lineup by rookie Celestin Haba, who has now been moved to a depth role.

Jeffcoat has played 65 career games with Winnipeg since joining the team in 2017, recording 126 defensive tackles, 30 sacks, seven forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and two interceptions. He was named a CFL all-star in 2021.

Winnipeg has also promoted versatile running back Greg McCrae from the practice roster. He will start at slotback, while veteran target Rasheed Bailey has been moved to boundary wide receiver. Carlton Agudosi, who started the first three games of the season in that spot, is listed behind Nic Demski, who is a game-time decision.

Field-side cornerback Desmond Lawrence has been moved to the six-game injured list due to a knee injury and will be replaced by Abu Daramy-Swaray, who made his CFL debut last week in place of Demerio Houston. Houston has since returned to the lineup and will start at boundary cornerback.

Defensive tackles Miles Fox and Tanner Schmekel have been moved to the practice roster, while defensive lineman Cameron Lawson and offensive lineman Tui Eli have returned from knee and leg injuries, respectively. American fullback Damian Jackson has also been moved to the practice roster.

Dakota Prukop will dress as the team’s third-string quarterback this week after he was re-signed following a stint in the USFL. In a corresponding move, preseason sensation Tyrrell Pigrome was released by the club on Tuesday.

The Blue Bombers (2-1) will visit the Alouettes (2-0) on Saturday, July 1 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT. This will mark the first of two meetings between the clubs this year.
