The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have activated Canadian offensive lineman Chris Van Zeyl from the six-game injured list.
The six-foot-six, 312-pound blocker missed the first two games of the 2023 regular season and has dressed for only 13 contests over the past two years due to injury. At 39, he is the CFL’s oldest active player.
Van Zeyl has been named an East Division all-star seven times and a CFL all-star three times over the course of his long career. He was also named the league’s Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman as a member of the Ticats in 2019.
The native of Fonthill, Ont. has dressed for 186 career CFL games since being selected in the third round of the 2007 CFL Draft by the Montreal Alouettes.
The Ticats have also signed American receiver Carlos Carriere.
The six-foot-five, 200-pound target recently participated in rookie camp with the New York Giants after going unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft. The native of Alpharetta, Ga. played five NCAA seasons at the University of Maryland and Central Michigan University. He caught 83 passes for 1,000 yards and eight touchdowns over his college career.
Hamilton (0-2) is scheduled to host the Montreal Alouettes (1-0) on Friday, June 23 with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. EDT.
