CFL fines Winnipeg’s Adam Bighill, Ottawa’s Gary Johnson Jr. following Week 2

The CFL has fined twi players following Week 2 of the regular season.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ linebacker Adam Bighill was fined for a high hit on Saskatchewan Roughriders’ quarterback Shea Patterson. Bighill recorded five defensive tackle in his team’s 45-27 victory over the Riders. The 34-year-old is a six-time CFL all-star and three-time CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player.

Ottawa Redblacks’ linebacker Gary Johnson Jr. was fined for punching Calgary Stampeders’ linebacker Charlie Moore. Johnson recorded two special teams tackles in his team’s 26-15 loss to the Stampeders. The 26-year-old signed with the Redblacks following a three-year stint with the Riders during which he made 16 special teams tackles.

As per league policy, the amounts of the fines were not disclosed. The maximum possible fine under the league’s collective bargaining agreement is equal to one-half of a player’s game cheque.
