After suffering through a historic string of injuries in 2022, the Edmonton Elks will enter their Week 2 matchup with the B.C. Lions without a single change to the roster.

The Elks lost 17-13 in their season opener against the Saskatchewan Roughriders but emerged without an injury and will field the exact same lineup in Vancouver. After sitting out of practice Monday with a knee issue, strong-side linebacker Enock Makonzo will be back in his usual spot. The same can be said for defensive back Loucheiz Purifoy (dental) and defensive tackle J-Min Pelley (back), both of whom will be in the lineup despite missing time.

Still on the six-game injured list from last week are defensive backs Aaron Grymes and Marloshawn Franklin, linebackers Eli Mencer and Wesly Appolon, and offensive lineman Samuel Thomassin. Quarterback Jarrett Doege and offensive linemen Martez Ivey and Cole Nelson will be healthy scratches.

Quarterback Taylor Cornelius will be looking for a bounce-back performance after struggling in Week 1, completing just 13-of-25 attempts for 202 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions. He was named the worst quarterback of the week by ProFootballFocus, earning a dismal 33.2 passing grade.

With the exception of Eugene Lewis, the Elks’ talented passing attack of Dillon Mitchell, Steven Dunbar Jr., Kyran Moore and Emmanuel Arceneaux was painfully quiet. However, the defence held Saskatchewan to just 305 yards of net offence, including 179 through the air.

The Elks (0-1) will visit the Lions (1-0) on Saturday at BC Place, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT. The game will be preempted by a live performance from rap icon LL Cool J and is expected to feature a large crowd with the upper deck open.
