The Ottawa Redblacks will be without running back Devonte Williams when they take on the Calgary Stampeders on Thursday due to a hamstring injury.

The five-foot-nine, 170-pound ball-carrier rushed 11 times for 36 yards in Ottawa’s season-opening loss to the Montreal Alouettes on Saturday. He also caught four passes for 15 yards.

The Redblacks are expected to active De’Montre Tuggle from the practice roster to help account for the loss of Williams. The five-foot-ten, 198-pound ball-carrier ran for 1,838 yards and 24 touchdowns over three seasons at the University of Ohio.

The club also has Canadian running back Jackson Bennett on the roster, though Ante Milanovic-Litre, the club’s other Canadian running back, remains out due to an ankle injury.

Williams started eight games for Ottawa last season, his first in the CFL, and recorded 90 carries for 454 yards.

Thursday’s game between the Redblacks and Stampeders is set for 7:30 p.m. EDT at TD Place Stadium. Nick Arbuckle will start for Ottawa at quarterback while Jeremiah Masoli remains out due to a leg injury.
