The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have activated American kicker Seth Small from the suspended list and signed Canadian running back Ryth-Jean Giraud.
Small was initially cut by the Ticats after training camp in 2022 but rejoined the team in July. He dressed for 14 games and made 39-of-43 field goal attempts (90.7 percent) along with 26-of-27 one-point convert attempts (96.3 percent).
The native of Katy, Texas participated in minicamp with the Indianapolis Colts after going unselected in the 2022 NFL Draft. He played 46 games over four seasons at Texas A&M University (2018-2021), making 71-of-91 field goal attempts (78 percent) including a career long 52-yard field goal.
Small was placed on the suspended list on May 14. Hamilton had American kickers Jonathan Garibay and Ethan Ratke in training camp but both were released as part of final cutdowns.
Giraud was selected in the fifth round of the 2022 CFL Draft by the Montreal Alouettes and appeared in two preseason games with the club before being released. He was in training camp with the Calgary Stampeders this year and was effective during the preseason, rushing seven time for 49 yards and one touchdown.
The Montreal native was a two-time RSEQ Conference all-star at the Université de Montreal. In 16 career U Sports games for the Carabins, Giraud had 125 carries for 841 yards and five touchdowns while adding 29 catches for 300 yards and a touchdown.
