The Ottawa Redblacks will start Tyrie Adams for their preseason finale against the Toronto Argonauts on Thursday.
The 26-year-old took over the controls from Nick Arbuckle in the second half of the club’s first preseason game against the Montreal Alouettes and completed seven-of-eleven pass attempts for 105 yards and one touchdown. He also ran the ball two times for 26 yards.
The Western Carolina product dressed for six games as a CFL rookie in 2022 and completed eight-of-twelve pass attempts for 98 yards along with four carries for 31 yards.
The Redblacks are fielding a young roster on Thursday with well over a dozen veterans not playing, including Nick Arbuckle, Jaelon Acklin, Nate Behar, Drew Desjarlais, Cleyon Laing, Lorenzo Mauldin IV, Jovan Santos-Knox, and Sherrod Baltimore.
Veteran quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, who may not be ready for the start of the regular season, will also not dress for the game.
Local product Zack Pelehos, the second overall pick in the 2022 CFL Draft, will start at right tackle, while Carleton product Keaton Bruggeling will start at slotback.
Veteran defensive back Money Hunter was added to the injured list this past week after suffering a torn pectoral muscle. Receiver Shaq Evans is also expected to miss time after suffering a broken finger.
Thursday’s preseason game is scheduled for Thursday, June 1 at Alumni Stadium in Guelph, Ont. Kickoff will take place at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
