The Toronto Argonauts will field a veteran-laden roster in their preseason debut when they visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Saturday.
Chad Kelly, the new face of the franchise, will start under centre in his first game as the team’s undisputed No. 1 quarterback. He replaces McLeod Bethel-Thompson, who left for the USFL this past off-season to remain closer to his young family.
The Argonauts will also start a number of their high-profile off-season additions, including defensive end Folarin Orimolade, linebacker Jordan Williams, and strong-side linebacker Adarius Pickett. Orimolade, who recorded a career-high six sacks with the Calgary Stampeders last season, became the highest-paid edge-rusher in the league when he signed with Toronto in free agency.
The veteran players who won’t dress for the Argos on Saturday including running back Andrew Harris, offensive lineman Dariusz Bladek, and linebacker Henoc Muamba.
Saturday’s game between the Argos and Ticats will get underway at 4:00 p.m. EDT at Tim Hortons Field.
