The Saskatchewan Roughriders have added former NFL linebacker T.J. Brunson to their training camp roster.
The six-foot-one, 230-pound defender played collegiately at the University of South Carolina, suiting up in 49 games from 2016 to 2019. He recorded 283 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, six sacks, one interception, seven pass knockdowns, one forced fumble and four fumble recoveries while twice being named a team captain.
Brunson was selected by the New York Giants with the 238th overall pick in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft and spent two seasons with the team. He saw action in five games as a rookie and recorded three tackles, but suffered a torn ACL in the 2021 preseason and was eventually released.
In a corresponding move, the Riders released American receiver Isaiah McKoy.
McKoy was signed by the Riders on May 13. He recorded 124 receptions for 1,748 yards and 16 touchdowns in three seasons at Kent State, before stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent.
