The Edmonton Elks have signed American defensive back Darrius Bratton.

The six-foot, 200-pound defender recorded 77 total tackles, one tackle for loss, 0.5 sacks, and 14 pass knockdowns over 52 career games at the University of Virginia. He ran a 4.43-second forty-yard dash at Virginia’s pro day in March along with a 38.5-inch vertical jump and an 11-foot, eight-inch broad jump.

Bratton went unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft but recently participated in rookie minicamp with the New Orleans Saints.

The Elks have also released American running Lyndemian Brooks and American receivers Quan Harrison and Raphael Leonard.

Edmonton is holding practice indoors at the Commonwealth Community Recreation Centre fieldhouse on Wednesday due to poor air quality from the ongoing Alberta wildfires. The club is scheduled to open the CFL’s preseason on Monday when they visit the Stampeders at McMahon Stadium with kickoff at 4:00 p.m. EDT.
