The B.C. Lions have released American nine players, including speedy receiver Kevin Shaa.
The five-foot-ten, 170-pound target played 33 games at Liberty University (2018-21) and caught 82 passes for 1,364 yards and 12 touchdowns from quarterback Malik Willis, who was a third-round pick of the Tennessee Titans in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Shaa performed well at the school’s pro day ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft, blazing a 4.39-second forty-yard dash and leaping a 38-inch vertical jump and a ten-foot, eleven-inch broad jump.
The native of San Francisco, Calif. signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent and played in three preseason games for the team in 2022, recording three catches for 42 yards. He was waived as part of final cuts.
The Lions also released running back Raymond Calais, receiver Cole Blackman, offensive lineman Quinn Oseland, linebackers Robert Holt and Henry Yinakopolos, defensive backs Elijah Benton and Tre Webb, and kicker Cesar Barajas.
All CFL teams were required to trim their rosters to 75 players plus non-counters by late Tuesday night. A non-counter is any rookie who was drafted or attending training camp as a territorial exemption.
