The Edmonton Elks have acquired Canadian offensive lineman Theren Churchill from the Toronto Argonauts for a conditional pick in the 2024 CFL Draft.

Churchill appeared in 26 games over two CFL seasons with the Argos and helped the double blue capture the Grey Cup last November. The six-foot-six, 295-pounder was selected in the first round, ninth overall, in the 2020 CFL Draft following three seasons at the University of Regina.

The Stettler, Alberta native returns to his home province, where he spent four years playing for the Edmonton Huskies of the Canadian Junior Football League from 2013-2016, earning Prairie Football Conference all-star honours in 2016.

The Argos will receive Edmonton’s sixth-round pick in the 2024 draft with the pick upgrading to a fifth-round selection if Churchill is named to the Elks’ 45-man active roster for at least nine games in the 2023 season.
