Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign two, release one

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed American defensive lineman Caleb Thomas and American running back Jordan Salima.

The six-foot-one, 300-pound Thomas spent his final two collegiate seasons at the University of Louisiana Monroe after transferring from the University of Connecticut. During his two seasons with the Warhawks, the Mansfield, Texas native recorded 72 total tackles, 16 tackles for loss and four sacks. The 23-year-old appeared in 35 careers games for both schools, including 31 starts.

Salima spent four years at Truman State University (2016-2019) where he recorded 838 carries for 3,632 yards and 36 touchdowns. The five-foot-10, 205-pound ball carrier also caught 118 passes for 854 yards and five touchdowns. The Independence, Missouri native was a two-time All-Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) first-team and two-time All-GLVC second-team selection during his time with the Bulldogs. The 25-year-old also finished his Truman State career as the school’s fifth all-time leading rusher.

The team also released American defensive lineman Nate Givhan.
