The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed three American players, including running back Trey Ragas, defensive back Lummie Young IV and kicker Peyton Henry.
The five-foot-10, 214-pound Ragas most recently spent time on the practice squad of the National Football League’s Los Angeles Rams (2022). The 26-year-old native of New Orleans, Louisiana originally played in one game with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021, registering one carry for nine yards and two receptions for six yards.
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette product played 49 games over four seasons with the Ragin’ Cajuns (2017-2020), registering 596 carries for 3,572 yards and 38 touchdowns with 49 receptions for 427 yards and five touchdowns. Ragas earned second-team All-Sun Belt Conference honours in 2020 and earned third-team recognition on three occasions (2017-2019).
The 23-year-old Young IV most recently played 13 games in his lone season at Tulane University (2022), registering 47 total tackles, one-half tackles for loss, one interception and three pass breakups. The six-foot-one, 200-pound native of Anderson, South Carolina began his collegiate career at Duke University where played 34 games over four seasons (2018-2021), totalling 144 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two quarterback sacks, three forced fumbles, two interceptions and 10 pass breakups
Henry suited up in 56 games over five seasons at Washington University (2018-2022), completing 71 of 88 field goal attempts with a career-long of 50 yards. The five-foot-11, 197-pound native of Danville, California earned second-team All-Pac 12 honours twice (2019 and 2022) and was a semi-finalist for the Lou Garza Award as the NCAA’s top kicker in 2019.
The team also released American receiver Brennan Eagles.
