The Ottawa Redblacks have signed five American players, including receivers C.J. Lewis and Talolo Limu-Jones, defensive lineman C.J. Onyechi, and defensive backs Komotay Koffie and Joshua Valentine-Turner.
Lewis caught 26 passes for 352 yards and two touchdowns over 12 games in 2022 at Bowling Green State University. The six-foot-three, 215-pound native of Hamden, Conn. previously played at Boston College.
Limu-Jones played 53 games over five seasons at Eastern Washington University, recording 161 catches for 2,722 yards and 21 touchdowns. The six-foot-four, 220-pound native of Vallejo, Calif. is a converted tight end.
Onyechi was named honourable mention All-Mountain West after recording 58 total tackles, nine tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery this past season at Colorado State University. The six-foot, 245-pound native of West Orange, N.J. previously played at Rutgers where he made 87 total tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, and five sacks over 43 games.
Koffie made 30 total tackles, one tackle for loss, and two pass knockdowns over seven games at the University of Northern Colorado in 2021. The 26-year-old previously played at New Mexico State and the North Dakota State College of Science.
Valentine-Turner made 82 total tackles, two tackles for loss, eight pass knockdowns, and one interception over 23 games at Florida Atlantic University (2019-21) and was named honourable mention All-Conference USA in 2020. The six-foot, 188-pound native of Deerfield, Fla. previously played at Iowa.
The Redblack will open rookie camp on Wednesday, May 10 and training camp on Sunday, May 14.
