The Toronto Argonauts could be the latest CFL team with new threads for the 2023 season, as the club teased the possibility of a new uniform on social media Thursday.
The marketing campaign began with a cryptic tweet from the defending Grey Cup champion’s official Twitter account at 12:32 p.m. EDT, floating the possibility of some sort of announcement.
“Something new is coming. We can’t spill just yet, but trust us when we say it’s worth the wait. [excited eyes emoji] [shush emoji]”
Just under an hour and a half later, the team dropped a teaser trailer featuring quarterback Chad Kelly and defensive lineman Shawn Oakman. The 24-second video shows the two players walking in what appears to be the bowels of BMO Field, before unzipping two equipment bags.
Oakman can be seen saying, “I didn’t even know we had new jerseys, first of all,” followed by Kelly exclaiming, “This is going to be sweet.” The pair’s excited reaction after opening the bags was accompanied by a black screen and a date, suggesting an announcement will be made about the uniforms on Tuesday, May 23.

The Argos would become the third CFL team to unveil a new uniform this offseason. The B.C. Lions unveiled a new “blackout” home look and “fog grey” jerseys for the road, while the Calgary Stampeders launched a revamped white and red away uniform while tweaking the rest of their outfits.
Toronto last changed their uniforms in 2019 and retouched the look a year later when they adopted a modernized version of the boat logo full-time.
