The Calgary Stampeders have signed American quarterback Chris Reynolds and American offensive lineman Brandon Weldon.
Reynolds set a number of records over five seasons at UNC Charlotte, throwing for 10,266 yards, 84 touchdowns, and 35 interceptions in 46 career games. The native of Flemington, N.J. also ran the ball 375 times for 887 yards and 12 touchdowns.
The five-foot-eleven, 202-pound passer was a three-time team captain with the 49ers and named honourable mention All-Conference USA four times. He went unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft, making Calgary his first professional football team.
Weldon played 48 games over four seasons at Sacramento State and was named first-team All-Big Sky Conference in 2022. He started 13 games at guard as a senior, helping the Hornets set new school records with 3,163 rushing yards and 36 rushing touchdowns.
The six-foot-three, 300-pound blocker was named second-team All-Big Sky at guard as Sacramento State allowed only 18 sacks. He also has collegiate experience at right tackle.
