The Toronto Argonauts are hosting training camp at the University of Guelph for the third consecutive year. The team will also hold its preseason game against the Ottawa Redblacks on June 1 on campus at Alumni Stadium.
“We love it at the University of Guelph,” said head coach Ryan Dinwiddie in a statement. “The facilities, the accommodations, the food, the hospitality from staff is as professional as any place I’ve been. We are thrilled to be back for camp this year, as well as hosting our preseason game against Ottawa at Alumni Stadium.”
The University of Guelph is located 90 kilometres west of downtown Toronto. The Argos have previously held training camp there in 2022, 2021, and 2016 in addition to a number of times during the 1980s and 1990s. The club also hosted a preseason game there in 2018.
Toronto will start rookie camp on May 10, running a three-day event that will include veteran quarterbacks and first-year CFL players. The team will then trim its roster to 85 players on May 13 ahead of the first practice of training camp taking place on May 14.
The club indicated that some practices may be closed to the public, though fans are encouraged to attend when possible. Information regarding whether or not practices will be open to the public will be shared at least a day in advance.
“The football facilities at the University of Guelph are second to none,” said defensive back Royce Metchie, who played at the school for four years. “It is the perfect place for a CFL training camp and provides us every advantage heading into the preseason and regular season.”
The Argos open their preseason slate against Hamilton at Tim Hortons Field on May 27.
