The B.C. Lions have added a quartet of Americans to their roster, including speedy receiver Kevin Shaa.
The five-foot-10, 170-pound pass catcher played 33 games for Liberty University from 2018 to 2021, hauling in 82 receptions for 1,364 yards and 12 touchdowns from quarterback Malik Willis. The San Francisco native lit it up at the Flames’ Pro Day ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft, blazing a 4.39-second forty-yard dash while leaping 38 inches in the vertical and ten feet, 11 inches in the broad.
Shaa signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent and played in three preseason games, recording three catches for 42 yards. He was waived as part of final cuts.
The team also added running back Vance McShane, linebacker Brooks Parker and defensive back Xavior Williams.
McShane played two seasons at Northern Iowa (2021-22), carrying 189 times for 1,042 yards and eight touchdowns and catching 11 passes for 99 yards in 20 games. The five-foot-six, 190-pound back began his collegiate career in the NAIA with Saint Xavier, rushing 480 times for 2,516 yards and 23 touchdowns in 32 games. He also hauled in 70 receptions for 468 yards and four majors with the Cougars.
Parker played 36 games over four seasons (2019-22) at Delaware State. The six-foot-one, 210-pound backer recorded 160 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, five pass knockdowns and a fumble recovery. He was named second-team All-MEAC in 2019 and 2022, and was recently named defensive MVP of the HBCU Pigskin Showdown All-Star Game.
Williams played his first three college seasons at Northern Iowa, earning freshman All-American honours in 2017 and taking home first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference selections in each of the next two seasons. The five-foot-11, 190-pound defender recorded 118 total tackles, 32 pass knockdowns, eight interceptions, one defensive touchdown and a pair of fumble recoveries, while returning 35 kickoffs for 809 yards and 27 punts for 136 yards. Williams transferred to Iowa in 2021 and played in eight games with the Hawkeyes, recording three tackles.
