York University receiver Gabriel Appiah-Kubi has won the forty-yard dash at the 2023 CFL Combine with a time of 4.44 seconds.
Appiah-Kubi was elevated to the national event after a strong performance at the CFL Invitational Combine in Waterloo on March 3, where he posted a time of 4.48 seconds. He posted just seven receptions for 89 yards in eight games last season with the Lions.
University of Waterloo defensive back Tyrell Ford won the forty-yard dash at the 2022 CFL Combine with a time of 4.42 seconds.
Other recent winners of the event include Queen’s receiver Chris Osei-Kusi (4.47 seconds, 2019), McMaster receiver Daniel Petermann (4.54 seconds, 2018), Carleton defensive back Tunde Adeleke (4.58 seconds, 2017), Calgary receiver Doug Corby (4.51 seconds, 2016), and Regina defensive back Tevaughn Campbell (4.36 seconds, 2015).
Campbell holds the official all-time combine record at 4.36 seconds but receiver and return specialist Steven Turner out of Bishop’s ran a hand-timed 4.31 forty-yard dash in 2011.
