The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed receiver Michael Young Jr. and defensive back and kick returner Will Allen Jr.
Young, Jr. started his collegiate career at Notre Dame where he made 17 catches for 177 yards and two touchdowns over three seasons with the Fighting Irish (2017-19). He transferred to the University of Cincinnati and made 57 catches for 685 yards and five touchdowns over two seasons with the Bearcats (2020-21).
The five-foot-ten, 185-pound target went unselected in the 2022 NFL Draft but signed with the Indianapolis Colts as a priority free agent. He was released by the team at the conclusion of training camp before having a brief stint on the practice roster with the Houston Texans.
Allen Jr. played four years at Columbia University and was named All-Ivy League as a freshman in 2017 and a senior in 2021. He recorded 61 tackles, four tackles for loss, three interceptions, and 17 knockdowns over 38 career games with 27 starts. He also ranks second all-time in school history in career blocked kicks with five.
The five-foot-nine, 180-pound defender is the son of Will Allen, a former first-round NFL draft pick who played seasons with the New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, and New England Patriots. He had a brief stint with the Dolphins in 2022.
