The Toronto Argonauts have signed American defensive lineman Chris Rice out of Castleton University.
The six-foot-five, 245-pound defender made 228 total tackles, 69 tackles for loss, 26.5 sacks, two interceptions, eight forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and four blocked kicks over 39 career games with the Spartans.
The 23-year-old was name the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2019 and 2021. He attended rookie minicamp with the Tennessee Titans after going unselected in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Castleton is located in Castleton, Vt. and plays at the Division III level of the NCAA. The school will be moving to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) as of 2024.
