The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed two American players ahead of the 2023 CFL season, including receiver Kahlil Lewis and defensive back Cortez Davis.

Lewis returns for a second stint with the Ticats, having spent training camp with the team in 2021. He spent four collegiate seasons at the University of Cincinnati and led the Bearcats in receiving for three straight years, registering 168 receptions for 2,116 yards and 21 receiving touchdowns in 48 games.

The five-foot-10, 190-pound receiver signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He later spent time with the Seattle Seahawks, as well as stints with the XFL’s Houston Roughnecks in 2020 and the USFL’s Philadelphia Stars in 2022.

Davis played three seasons at the University of Hawaii, recording 131 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, one quarterback sack, two interceptions, 34 pass breakups and three forced fumbles in 36 career games. The two-time All-Mountain West selection began his collegiate career at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, before a stint at Itawamba Community College.

The five-foot-11, 180-pound cornerback spent time as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals in 2022. He recently attended training camp with the XFL’s DC Defenders.
