The B.C. Lions have signed a pair of American defensive backs, Elijah Benton and Najee Reams.
Benton played in 44 games over four seasons at Liberty University, amassing 205 tackles and two interceptions. He went unselected in the 2020 NFL Draft and signed with the Cleveland Browns as a free agent, dressing for one game as a rookie.
The six-foot-one, 205-pound safety was released by the Browns following training camp the next year, spending time on the practice roster with the Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots, and New York Jets. He most recently spent training camp with the Tennessee Titans in 2022.
Reams played 39 games over four seasons at North Carolina A&T, where he won four MEAC titles and three HBCU national championships. He recorded 106 tackles, one interception, nine pass breakups and four forced fumbles, while also qualifying for the NCAA Division 1 Championships in the 4X400 relay as a track athlete.
The six-foot-two, 195-pound safety went unselected in the 2022 NFL Draft and signed with the Detroit Lions as a free agent. He most recently spent training camp with the XFL’s Vegas Vipers.
