The Toronto Argonauts have released American defensive lineman Ali Fayad, the club announced on Tuesday.
The six-foot-two, 250-pound lineman dressed for four games with the team this past season and recorded four defensive tackles, one special teams tackle, and one sack. He made one start at defensive end, which came in the club’s regular season finale, and did not dress during the playoffs.
The 23-year-old played five seasons at Western Michigan where he was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2021 after making 40 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 13 sacks.
Fayad played in 52 career games for the Broncos and tallied 154 tackles, 51 for loss, 30 sacks, 10 forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries while being named second-team All-MAC in 2019 and first-team in 2021. The Detroit native was signed briefly with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022.
