The Toronto Argonauts have re-signed American receiver Markeith Ambles, per sources.
The 31-year-old pass catcher joined the Argos as a free agent last offseason and had a career year in double blue. He posted 72 receptions for 737 yards and five touchdowns in 18 regular-season games.
Ambles added six catches for 79 yards through two playoff appearances, helping the team capture the 109th Grey Cup. He became a free agent on Tuesday, February 14 but ultimately decided to return to The Six.
The six-foot-two, 197-pound target played three years with the Calgary Stampeders, winning a Grey Cup as a rookie in 2018. He totalled 117 receptions for 1,399 yards and seven touchdowns in 29 games in Cowtown.
The Georgia native began his college career as a four-star recruit at the University of Southern California before off-the-field issues caused him to transfer to Arizona Western Community College. He eventually landed at the University of Houston, catching 49 passes for 791 yards and five touchdowns in 23 games.
Ambles originally signed with the Argos in 2016 and spent training camp with the team. He caught six passes for 75 yards in two preseason games but was among the final cuts, eventually finding his way to the Stamps two years later.
