Have you Herd the good news?: Riders re-sign Canadian LB Justin Herdman-Reed

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed Canadian linebacker Justin Herdman-Reed.

The six-foot, 223-pound defender has spent the past two seasons with the Riders, notching two defensive tackles and 10 special teams tackles in 14 games last season. The 28-year-old also played 13 games in 2021, tallying five defensive tackles and five special teams tackles. 

Originally selected by the Toronto Argonauts in the seventh round of the 2017 CFL Draft, Herdman Reed has played 67 career games over five seasons with the Argos and Riders. He has registered 50 defensive tackles, 41 special teams tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles.

Prior to his CFL career, the Winnipeg native attended Simon Fraser University. He made 220 tackles, 33 tackles for loss, six quarterback sacks, two interceptions, five forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries in 40 games over four collegiate seasons.

Justin is the twin brother of former Riders linebacker Jordan Herdam-Reed, who signed with the B.C. Lions on Wednesday.
