The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed American defensive lineman Casey Sayles to a two-year contract, the team announced on Wednesday. According to 3DownNation reporter Justin Dunk, the deal is worth approximately $200,000 annually.
The six-foot-four, 282-pound defender spent the past two seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He made 36 tackles, six sacks, and two forced fumbles over 18 starts at defensive tackle in 2022, setting all-new career-highs. He made 28 tackles and five sacks as a CFL rookie in 2021.
The 27-year-old went unselected in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Ohio University. He had stints with the Los Angeles Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers, AAF, and XFL before signing with Winnipeg ahead of the 2021 season.
Sayles recorded 110 total tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, six knockdowns, and three fumble recoveries over four seasons with the Bobcats (2013-16).
