The Montreal Alouettes have signed American running back A.J. Rose, the team announced on Monday.

The six-foot-one, 212-pound ball carrier rushed 341 times for 1,971 yards and 13 touchdowns over 44 games with the University of Kentucky Wildcats, making 24 starts. He also caught 24 passes for 233 yards and one touchdown. He was named the Gator Bowl MVP in January 2021 after rushing for 148 yards in his final collegiate game.

“We are happy to add a player as explosive and exciting as A.J. to our roster,” said general manager Danny Maciocia in a statement. “He was highly recommended by our former player Anwar Stewart, who is on the University of Kentucky coaching staff. We are looking forward to seeing him on a Canadian field this spring.”

The 25-year-old went unselected in the 2021 NFL Draft but took part in training camp with the Minnesota Vikings. He spent most of the season on the practice squad before attending training camp with the Los Angeles Rams in 2022.
