The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed Canadian receiver Mitchell Picton to a two-year contract extension.
The six-foot-two, 200-pound target played 11 games for his hometown team in 2022, setting new career highs with 220 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 18 receptions. He played at least one game at each of the five receiver positions over the course of the season.
The Regina native was originally selected by the Roughriders with the 37th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2017 CFL Draft. After returning to school for a fifth year and spending another full season on the practice roster, he made his professional debut two years later and has since recorded 43 receptions for 438 yards and three touchdowns in 23 career games.
Prior to joining the Riders, Picton played five seasons at the University of Regina. In 38 collegiate games, he tallied 170 receptions for 2,447 yards and 24 touchdowns and was named a first-team All-Canadian in 2016.
