The Ottawa Redblacks have re-signed American defensive lineman Praise Martin-Oguike for the 2023 CFL season, the team announced on Tuesday. He was scheduled to become a free agent next week.
The 29-year-old played nine games this past season, starting each of them at defensive end. He recorded 12 defensive tackles, three sacks, and one forced fumble in those contests, finishing tied for sixth on the team in sacks.
The six-foot-one, 258-pound defender played nine games as a rookie in 2021 and made 20 defensive tackles, one special teams tackle, and four sacks.
Martion Oguike was born in Abia State, Nigeria and raised in Woodbridge, N.J. He went unselected in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Temple University but spent time with the Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent. He also was a member of the Seattle Dragons of the XFL in 2020.
